How to create a vision board

How to create a vision board

I've been contemplating doing a vision board for some time now, but just never executed. I guess I didn't wanna seem like I was doing a big craft project with no substance. After talking to one of my good friends I decided to let go of all that doubt and just go for it. It all started with a trip to the Dollar Store…

I see so many posts of vision boards and vision board parties that I was like nah. I just wanna do this for me. And that is what I did. Creating a vision board can help you tap into the dreams, goals, and achievements you want for your life. So what do you need to complete a vision board? I’m glad you asked that question.

Supplies I used for my Vision Board

Supplies I used for my Vision Board

The supplies needed for a vision board are:
Poster board
Scissors
Markers, pens, pencils, etc
Glue or tape
Stickers
Magazines, Pictures, Quotes (etc)
Post its

By all means you dont have to use all of this or you can add more to this list. These are just the things I used for mine.

Going in to the Dollar Store I had no clue what I wanted my board to look like, so I was picking up everything. Sidenote* I chose the worst Dollar Store in history because they didn't have much to choose from but, i made it work.

So now that I had my supplies it was time to get to work.

What I did next was pull out all the supplies. Then I started to think about my goals, dreams and aspirations for 2020. I also reflected on the past ten years. Once I had an idea of the goals on my list, I flipped through magazines for words, letters and pictures that fit my vision. Once I gathered my graphics I began gluing them to my board.

I started with the phrase "2020 Vision," and it all took off from there. My next phrase was " Dare to." I then glued words and phrases of all the things I dare to do in 2020. When I turned 32 last year I promised myself I would be audacious. With that promise I dare to walk boldly in 2020 by praying more, growing my relationship with God, increasing my savings, have no stress, home cooking, read more books and so much more. Now think about the things you want. What are some changes you want to make?

Creating a vision board is really simple. Write the vision and make it as plain or complex as you want. I hung it up right beside my bed once I completed it, so that it is the first thing I see every morning when I wake up. I encourage you to hang yours somewhere visible so you will be reminded of your vision evey single day. Now that the vision is set forth its up to me to do the work. So game on!! Don’t get caught up in the crafting of your vision board so much so that it's just another DIY scratched off your list. The real work comes when you have completed the board. Faith without works is dead. Seeing the vision means nothing if you don’t put the work behind it. So have the vision but get to WORK soon after. Below is a picture of my very first vision board. I cant wait to achieve every goal set forth.
