Goodbye Yesterday
It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday. It feels like just yesterday, I was starting my earring boutique. I was excited, driven and ready to slay all the girls with beautiful earrings. God had other plans for me though. Maybe, I shouldn't say that because for 3 whole years my earring boutique was life to me. And I loved it.... And God blessed my lil business.
I've always been a BIG earring lover. Once upon a time, I even handmade earrings. So, I didn't just pull this idea out of the sky. I thought selling earrings would be a great business and it was. Question is, did I ever consult God on this decision though? God raised a question to me one day. He asked me, "Did you start this business because of passion or you just thought you'd make money?" He hit me hard with this, I was like come on nah God, You know why. But, As I sat with that question, my intentions were made known to me. I didn't start selling earrings out of passion or obedience. It was simply because I wanted to. I did it because I love earrings and I thought I would make everyone else love them too.
For a unpopular person I did pretty well with my business. Most people say in business your family and friends will not support you, but my experience has been fortunately different. My family and friends were the ones who kept me in business. God blessed my earring boutique despite it not being something He told me to do and I am very grateful for that. The bible says that there is a season for everything. Maybe I was meant to sell earrings, but only in that season. I have come to realize that that season has come to an end.
It’s so hard to say goodbye, but saying hello to my true purpose is even better. As I become more intentional about my relationship with God, I am forced to sit with tough questions like this. IV GREY earring boutique wasn't necessarily my true purpose, but it had a purpose in it's season. So, I pose a question to you today. Are you operating in your true purpose or simply doing what you wanna do in this season?
